Everything you (never) wanted to know about me

You want to know about me, eh? (If you didn't, you wouldn't be here now, would you?). Well, here goes;

I was born in Scarborough, Ontario. I lived in Pickering for a couple of years, then moved to Ajax when I was about 2 and a half. (It's weird, but I actually remember some things about the house I lived in during my infant life. Strange stuff, man!). Sometime around June of 1998, I moved out of my parents house and into a friend's house (the rent was cheap, what can I say? :) ).

I have very eclectic tastes in most things, primarily music and food. As well as being a card-carrying computer geek, I'm also somewhat interested in foods. As for music, I enjoy everything from Beethoven to Marilyn Manson, and everything between. Most of what I listen to is 80's "hair" music. As for food, I enjoy everything from hotdogs 'n chicken noodle soup right through fancy French cuisine! (And I can cook most of it myself, too!).

I'm highly cynical (am not!), extremely sarcastic (Ya don't say?), and highly opinionated (everything sucks). After reading "1984" by George Orwell, "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley, and "Amusing Ourselves To Death" by Neil Postman I've become very anti-establishment, and paranoid of everything the govornment does or thinks about doing (no, I don't carry a gun, and no, I'm not insane. Atleast, I'd like to think I'm not).

I quit smoking sometime around mid-1997, re-started sometime in 1998, and quit again on March 22nd 2000. (I still can't breathe right), and since then I doubled my coffee intake (one vice for another). I also enjoy a beer every now and again (Real beer - Canadian beer - not that American beer-flavoured water), but usually stay away from any sort of hard liquor (Jell-O shooters are EVIL!).

Long ago and far, far away, I used to run a BBS, way back when I was still living with my parents, called (not surprisingly) "Blackdeath BBS". I had one dial-up line, and it ran on a 386SX-33 with 4 megs of RAM. At one point I had well over 100 people playing LORD (every so often, I get e-mail from former users telling me how much they miss my LORD game). I'm involved with the BBS scene, but only barely. I'm still a member of FidoNet, but primarily so that I can see it through to its demise. I may not have been a member since its heyday, but I was on the trailing edge of it.

I'm currently a contract PC/Network engineer, spending much of my time (and money) updating my certifications at College. I'm a Linux user through and through, so it's the OS that powers the server on which these web pages reside. I've also got Linux installed on my laptop, but have Win2k installed for mundane acadamia type needs.

Of course, since I'm a card-carrying geek, you'll need to see my credentials. My Geek Code is about the best way to tell you about myself. To view my Geek Code without cutting and pasting from that text file, you can use this link instead. Finally, here's a link to my PGP key.
